Achieve Optimal Sports Performance

It is Mental Training that separates the good from the Great. You will hear the greatest athletes of our  time talk about a certain Mental Toughness, Visualization, Mental preparation when discussing what gave them the winners edge. Truth is any serious athlete gives their all in the hopes for a victory. They train hard, they believe in themselevs, they practice and they do all the things necessary to be their absolute best, but most of the time they are good, very good, but is good really enough? What separates the good from the Greatest? Those who have gone on to win Gold Medals, Super bowl Rings, Stanley Cups,  and every trophy at its highest ranking, all have a very important master key in common. It is what takes someone who is good to Great.

Before the 1988 Olympic Games social psychologist Jacquesline Golding, PhD, and Steven Ungerleider, PhD surveyed 1,200 track and field athletes who qualified for the Olympic Trials. They specifically compared athletes who qualified for the Olympic Games and those who nearly qualified but missed. They found that these two groups of athletes had a lot in common. They were training hard, eating right, getting plenty of sleep, avoiding alcohol and other intoxicants, and using their brains as well as brawn to compete. They were nearly identical in every respect except for one thing.

Those athletes who actually made the team and competed in the Olympics were doing more mental practice in the final stages of preparation than their less-successful competitors. The athletes who actually qualified for the Olympics were doing final "mental tune-ups". They learned from their studies with Olympians that mental preparation and the timing of mental preparation are the keys to who succeeds. It is also known that coaches who know their athletes work together in physical training and in mental preparation as well.

On March 31st, 1973, boxer Ken Norton broke Muhammad Ali’s jaw and stole the fight!

Although he was the 7-1 underdog fighting against the World Champion he was the victor.

Norton worked with a hypnotist in the lead up to the fight. And in Norton’s mind the actual fight was like a “re-run” of the mental programming he’d already rehearsed with his hypnotist. Ali didn’t use a hypnotist. But guess what? He started using hypnosis after the Norton fight.

In 1996 boxer Steve Collins used hypnosis in the lead up to his World Title fight against boxing great Chris Eubank.

The main focus of the hypnosis was for Collins to throw two punches to every one of Eubank’s. At the end of the bout Eubank threw roughly 300 punches.

Collins threw 600. He went there in the mind then in the body.

As you can see, hypnosis can give you an unconquerable advantage against all odds.

Tiger Woods is an excellent example of an incredible athlete who has used hypnosis to achieve a phenomenal level of success in golf. He has reportedly been utilizing powerful self-hypnosis techniques since his early teens. Not only has he used it to visualize every swing and stroke in his mind before carefully executing it on the course, he also uses it to “get in the zone”.  Self-hypnosis methods have helped him, like many successful athletes, quiet the mind, release any anxiety, and become 100% focused as he plays the game. Such laser focus can be especially important in a game like golf where onlookers and other things can be very distracting.

Most people do not realize that golf is one of the most mental sports there is. It is you against yourself.  Your golf game shows you exactly where you are mentally. How you play life is how you play the game of golf. It has enough challenges to revel you to yourself. As it has been said, "circumstances do not make the man, they reveal him".

A great example is with one of the up and coming, soon to be pro-golfer, Alex Lundqvist. He has already achieved great success in his paintball career with the power of visualization and mental coaching on top of his own athletic skills. He believes the power of working with a hypnotherapist and mental coach has supported his sports success.

When he applied this coaching and mental practice to his golf game it completely transformed. In a few short months, while working on his mental focus, Alex won 1st place in the European Amateur Team Championship, representing Sweden two years in a row!, 2014 and 2015. He also went on to win the Golf AM Tour 2015 national championship (By Golf Channel). There is no question that he has always been very good, but with that extra mental edge, and intense focus he was able to turn his very good game into his greatest game. He has attested to the benefits of Mental Coaching, NLP and working with a hypnotherapist to improve his golf game and overall sports success. His results are quite Impressive to say the least!

You too can improve your game, regardless of your sport you can become even greater that you imagine. When working with a certified hypnotherapist and mental coach you will find these techniques are effective regardless of the sport you are in. Whether you play professionally or just for fun there is no doubt that there is an even greater success available to you when you do specific mental fine tuning. It is a very powerful process and can be done easily and effortlessly on your part.
